Welcome!

I started this academy to help artists at all points in their career, whether you are literally just starting out/even too scared to start or a seasoned vet who makes 6-figures as an artist.

This academy is here to help you be more successful in the business of being an artist! The academy contains theory and a lot of practical drills and actual things you have to do.

This is your career we're working on.  I can show you the path, but only you can walk it. I'm here to be your guide, your confidant, your shoulder to cry on, your cheering section, and everything in between.

I'm on a mission to help 1,000,000 artists get paid for their art and artistic abilities!

So welcome and together we will achieve all the goals you want to achieve!!!

There is one rule you need to follow as an artist: PRODUCE, PROMOTE, PERSIST.

No matter where you are at in your career, whether you are just starting out or making 6-figures and winning awards, the most important rule to follow is:

1) Make your art.

2) Share it to as many people as people.  Share it to people who would pay you for your art.

3) Keep going.  Don't give up.  Keep persisting through all the no's, all the "failures", all of the low moments when you give up.  Just keep producing art and promoting it.

If you want your art to be your full-time job, you need to treat it like a full-time job.

Start changing your attitude toward your art from enjoying it to treating it like a 40 hr a week job because that's what you want it to be, right?

The more you work on your career, the faster you'll achieve your goals. You just have to put in the time.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

What is your art form?

If you are figuring out what you want to do in art - TRY EVERYTHING!

Start figuring out what you like and dislike

Knowing what you dislike is just as important as knowing what you like.

Find the specific art form that you have the most passion for and drive for.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

What is your niche?

When you start creating art, you are going to need to figure out a singular goal.

Having a singular goal is paramount to success because it gives you a singular path to follow.

It can be tough, but having one goal allows you to spend all your energy on that one thing.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

What is your goal? (approx. 6mo - 3yr)

One thing to figure out early in your career is your brand.

The formula is very simple - YOU=______.

For example, my friend Chloe's brand was CHLOE = Hot, Funny girl.

This gives you a stable fundamental to build all your art, your marketing and presence because once you have this statement defined you just need to make art and share art that represents that statement.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

YOU = _______

With the goal you set, make sure your goal is achievable.

Do a little research to ensure you don't set yourself up for failure.

Use this lesson to do a little quality control and make sure the goal you set is aligned with your passions and achievable.

Once you finish doing your research, schedule a call so we can go over your art form, niche, goal and brand.

If you are struggling with any of these, that's totally fine too.  Schedule a call so we can help get this figured out!

Help shortcut your career and speed it up.

Find the leaders in your niche, the leaders in your industry.

Find out what they did to achieve their success.

Between Google, Youtube, and the internet as a whole - finding out this information has never been easier.

From the research you do, find the common denominators between all of them and start doing those actions to help speed up your journey to your goals.

With your goal written out, let's break down how you are going to achieve it.

What you are going to do is focus on accomplishing those and by doing that you'll achieve your goal?

By breaking it down to these 3-5 major targets, confronting your goal becomes so much easier as the targets can be a lot less daunting then the major goal as a whole.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

Write out the 3-5 major things you need to accomplish your goal.

How do you make money being an artist?

There are so many ways to monetize your skills:

-Your art itself. Either as a product or a service.

-Ad Sense.  Getting paid from social media platforms for posting content and getting a lot of attention

-Brand Deals.  Partnering with companies to make promotional content for them and posting it on your social media.

-Online Courses. Teaching others the skills you've learned and delivering it as an online course.

What are you selling and who are you selling it to?

Understanding these two questions transitions you from doing your art as a hobby to doing it as a profession.

Grant Cardone has a great line - "Whose got my money?"

Defining this gives you a simple, defined public to promote to.

ANSWER IN YOUR NOTES:

What are you selling?

Who are you selling it to?

As you're working on your career now, you are going to want to align your life towards achieving your goals even faster.

1) Get paid to practice. Figure out how you can practice your craft and get paid to do it.  Whether it's a full-time job that is doing your craft or taking freelance jobs that allow you to keep practicing the skills of your craft.

2) Create spec work. As an artist, you are going to need to make your art! Just go out and make art that is in the exact style you want to make.

3) Share your art! Simple as that.  Post on social media, text it to friends or family.  You need people to see your art!

4) Network. Meet people! Meet other artists.  Meet people who would pay you for your art.  Get yourself out there!

There are two basic forms of promotion every artist should be doing.

1) Social Media

2) Direct Marketing

Success as an artist comes from the amount of promotion you do.

Start with one, but to fully achieve your goals, you'll need to do both.

To be successful, you are going to need to get out of your comfort zone.

Each time I am uncomfortable/scared/nervous about what I'm doing, I know I am doing the right thing.

If I am comfortable and it's going well, I know I'm not pushing myself and not expanding as fast as I can.

It's not fun, but this is a very simple rule to keep in the back of your mind to help you achieve success: Be Uncomfortable.

BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE

Confidence comes from practice.

The more you do it, the better you get at it. The better you get at it, the more confident you'll be.

It comes down to doing it over and over and over.

Do you feel like a fake? Do you feel like you shouldn't get paid for your art?

Well, you're not alone!

The simple old adage is - Fake it until you make it!

Keep going.  Do what you need to do to be an artist and keep making art.

Here is a simple drill to help you with your self confidence.

1) Write down all the "negative" statements, considerations, and thoughts you have on a piece of paper.

2) Write up the paper with your hands.

3) Throw away the shredded paper.

4) Write down positive affirmations, dreams, goals, and versions of the negative things you ripped up.

5) Repeat as often and as many times as needed.

As the old saying goes: You are the collection of the 5 people you surround yourself with.

So make sure those 5 people are fully supportive of you, your art and your artistic career.

That "cheering section" will help you push through the mental barriers and other things that come up in life.

Find the people in your life that want you to succeed and want you to achieve every goal you set for yourself.

There is no reason you can't be unbelievably successful and I'm here to cheer you on and help you win!

ACCELERATE YOUR GROWTH

Accelerate your growth in your career with these 3 simple principles:

Produce

Promote

Persist

The only way to accurately track your growth in your career is to keep statistics.

The statistic I would recommend tracking is "Actions taken toward forwarding my career"

So those could be posting on social media, creating art, making sales, etc.

You want to increase those actions you do each week.

Don't get overwhelmed with what types of content to share on social media.

Here are some ideas:

-Your art itself

-Behind the scenes of making your art

-Teach people how you make your art

-Testimonials from buyers/clients of your art

-Your art in the world

You need to make sure you're promoting to the right people.

If you're struggling with this, go back to the lesson "Whose got my money?"

Each social media platform has specific things it likes.

The right platform depends on your art and who you are promoting to.

The best form of marketing is WORD OF MOUTH!

You trust your friends and family's recommendations over any ad put in front of you.

You want to start building word of mouth by first creating great art.

Deliver your art and make the experience of buying your art, or spending money on you the best experience for your clients possible.

Finally, don't be afraid to ask for referrals and to get your current clients to help promote you.  They are spending money with you, so you know they like you.  They can be your best source of new sales.

Collaborate with artists you love. It's a great way to network and get yourself out there more.

Find art that you love and duplicate it.

Try your best to replicate it and it'll force you to learn how they did it.

You can then change a few details it and it becomes an original piece of art.

Social media is not the only form of promotion! Here is a list of promotional actions that can help you as a business.

-Posting on Social media

-Newsletter/Email Blast

-Networking/Meetings

-Affiliates

-Texting/Calling/Emailing people directly

-Following up with people

-Website

-Cleaning up your appearance and cleaning up your space

-Doing spec work/discounted work

You want to create a disruptive marketing campaign to help accelerate your growth as an artist.

It could be simply a viral video, a public stunt, or a clever action that gets a tremendous amount of attention.

Continually write down potential bright ideas that could be a disruptive idea.

Then try them out because you never know what will work.

Selling is not hard.

People want to buy your art and your artistic skills.

All you have to show them that your art is what they want.

As an artist, you are going to deal with suppression.

Suppression is a harmful intention or action against which one cannot fight back.

It is something you need to start being hyper-aware of if this is occurring in your life at any point.

The simplest way to spot it, are you creating less and less art.

We all get overwhelmed and can get burnt out.

Here's a few things that can help you.

-Go take a walk and look out at the world.

-Have a hobby.  Do something just for the fun of it without worrying about "the business."

Whether you are succeeding or struggling this is an amazing drill to do constantly!

Simply IMAGINE.

Imagine what you want your life to be like, your career to be like, the things you want to have, the things you want to do, who you want to be known as.

Make your imaginations massive.  Dream as big as you can, don't be afraid to imagine something that might be "unreal"!

Don't worry about how you are going to achieve it.  You first have to imagine it before you can achieve it and this is your chance to just imagine it first.

The more you imagine it, the easier it'll be to achieve it.

You did it!

You finished the course, but you are now just at the beginning of your journey.
